Resident Bio: I
grew up in Niles, Illinois, a Northwest suburb of Chicago, after
which I went to Wash U in St. Louis for my bachelor’s
degree in Biochemistry. It was during undergrad that I initially
became interested in research. At the University of Illinois,
my thesis work involved characterizing a then novel G-protein
coupled receptor that I found to be involved in immune modulation
by causing lymphocyte apoptosis and inhibition of neutrophil
activation. I have published first author papers in the Journal
of Immunology, the Journal of Biological Chemistry , and more
recently, in the American Journal of Ophthalmology, as well as
a chapter
in Duane’s Ophthalmology. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling,
trying new foods, cooking, camping, hiking, kayaking, shopping,
and watching old movies. Current

am currently studying genetic and immunologic markers of ocular
inflammatory disorders. I am also involved
in a study on protein misfolding in ocular melanoma.
