Supporting Focused Passion:
Peter Mattson That Man May See Board of Directors

"I became involved in fundraising for the Department of Ophthalmology because of the focused passion of the clinicians, researchers and teachers," says Peter Mattson. He was introduced to Creig Hoyt, MD, and TMMS Board member Wayne Caygill, MD, by San Rafael ophthalmologist Terry Baker, MD. In 1997 Mattson joined the Board of That Man May See (TMMS), the nonprofit foundation that supports ophthalmology at UCSF.

Pete Mattson draws upon a lifetime of business experience in lending his support to ophthalmology research and care. Chairman of the TMMS Board, he is also Board Chairman of Mattson & Co., which he and his wife Patty founded 25 years ago. Today, Mattson & Co. is the largest new product development company in the food and beverage industry (having launched products from Mrs. Fields cookies to Boca Burgers).

"Our society doesn't support the most essential things medical research, and above all, teaching hospitals," Mattson says, explaining why the TMMS Board is actively involved in department activities, as well as raising funds for ophthalmology research.

"New members are now joining the cadre of experienced, effective volunteers who make this a fully-operational Board," Mattson comments. Among the committed professionals on the TMMS Board are Jim Livingston, Bill Green, Ted Tight, Angus MacLean, Jr., and Dick Olsen.

BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR YOU & EYE RESEARCH

You can help insure that your children and grandchildren have a brighter future by establishing a Gift Annuity or Charitable Remainder Trust. Your gift will benefit you during these difficult times by providing income and a tax deduction, and supporting vision research at UCSF at your passing. Annuities and trusts can be set up with appreciated real estate, stocks or other assets.

For further information, please call That Man May See, Inc., at (415) 476-4016.
