Creig Hoyt, MD, Named Ophthalmology Department Chair

Longtime ophthalmology faculty leader and former Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology, Creig Hoyt, MD, was named Ophthalmology Department Chair July 1, following an extensive international search. Dr. Hoyt, who holds the Jean Kelly Stock Distinguished Professorship, has served as Interim Chair of the Department since June 2002, when Dr. Steven G. Kramer relinquished the role of Department Chair after 27 years of service.

"I am honored to have been selected as Department Chair," says Dr. Hoyt. "I look forward to working with the faculty and the administration to improve an already excellent department."

Trained as a neurologist and ophthalmologist, Dr. Hoyt is regarded as one of the world's leading pediatric neuro-ophthalmologists. In 2002, he was named editor of the prestigious British Journal of Ophthalmology, becoming the first editor selected from outside of the United Kingdom.
